NOTES ON ESSAY:

Marlowe did not write one of the versions. Which was it more likely to be? Neither, Marlowe was a lazy bastard. He probably employed a monkey with a face.

Less spectacle in the play certainly detracts from its seriousness.

The spectacle does not add a great deal to the play. If anything it makes it less serious. Would the audience consider the final dismemberment of Faustus a joke? Possible. Well, there’s nothing funny about dismemberment.

Spectacle scenes: The one with the horse. Quintessential differences between the two texts are stuff like, I dunno, whatever.

This play is a TRAGEDY. I think the B-text forgets that sometimes.

MARLOWE WAS A BASTARD. NEVER FORGET.

My essay is due in for monday. :(

Hello to anyone reading this blog.

My name is John, and I am currently a student at Aberystwyth university in Wales. I'm a first year, studying English Literature. There's no particular theme to this blog, I just felt that as an English student with a lot of time on my hands I should be at least writing something. So this blog will be about various things that happen to me, thoughts that I have, whatever really.

So, some background about me.
I'm originally from a small town just outside of Birmingham, England. My interests are music and photography. I have a myspace, a deviantart, and a last.fm. I've written a few articles for my friends website; here, here, and here. I went around Europe with my friend Ste this summer, and a blog about that can be found here. I attempted to learn Japanese, a blog about that is here, but I haven't learnt that many of the words on it. I did photography for a few bands; stuff i've done can be found here and here

Sorry for the relatively humourless first post. I'll try and make sure following posts are funnier.
